children off limits? fine - then they ALL are. fair game? then they ALL you. politicians and parties should not be able to selectively choose which ones are fair game and which ones arent

This is only because Republicans have so much trouble owning up to their mistakes that they don't bother to make political hay out of the shortcomings of Democrat parents.

I think the double standard that you see is possible only because Democrats don’t go out of their way to be good husbands, wives or parents, so when they screw up it just fades into the background- one more example of the Democrats doing what everybody expect them to do. The Republicans have been the ones to push the sanctity of marriage and the traditional family structure, so when they screw up it is highly noticeable because its highly hypocritical.
