I can see your point. In this case, if you are knowingly joining a organization consisting mostly of supremicists, you may have to look at the man in the mirror. Any organization that makes people feel good about being bad is bad.

I would challenge your "xenophobia of the British" - there is no such thing as "British" - possibly what you are categorising as British comes from news reports. I will agree that that the English are less willing to interact with others, but to say that there is a "strong conflict with Spain" is incorrcet, the English have strong conflicts with the French and the Germans (and us, obviously) but there is no sense in England that they have a conflict with Spain. |

*** So you're saying here that as long as I don't let Michael define me as a supremacist and racist--that I'll have nothing to worry about?

I was refering to the point where the poster said that I may need to take a look at the man in the mirror. I don't let other opinions at stormfront or anywhere else define me, so what they say has no barring on "the man in the mirror." They can be as racist as they want, I'm not.

then they are free from responsibility according to your statement. |

I'm guessing a simplified answer isn't going to work. I define myself with my own statements, if you want to call me a racist based on what I say, go for it. I would disagree, but at least you'd be doing it based on my statements. That's different than calling me a racist based on the statements of others. If people at stormfront say racist things, that doesn't make me a racist, just like if a person here says something racist, doesn't make every member here a racist. That is what is meant by "I define myself," it is my actions and my words that define me, not the words and actions of people on stormfront or anywhere else.

I'm talking about the conflict that existed during the age of exploration. Catherine of Aragon, Isabella's of Spain's daughter, was married to Henry VIII - before he divorced her amidst a fair amount of rancor. Yes, the same Isabella who financed Columbus. The discovery of the new land led to a huge effort to colonize - and was variously colonized by the Spanish, the English, the Dutch, and the French. All have left a legacy, though the Dutch legacy is most subtle.
Spain carried a rather strong grudge - recall the defeat of the Spanish armada, and the Spanish support of efforts to depose Elizabeth. It was under Elizabeth that the Virginia colony was sanctioned. Trust me, I could go on. I love history. But I think I've given you enough information to put my comment in perspective. As to modern day relations, I'm sure you do know far more than I do! ![]() Quote:
