Default The Pope Chastises Bush!

Pope Warns Youth Against Self-Absorption - NYTimes.com

SYDNEY, Australia — In his final address to hundreds of thousands of young Catholics gathered in Australia, Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday sharply criticized the violence and materialism of the modern age.
That's like he was talking directly to Bush, a person whose two favorite occupations are systemic corruption and unprovoked warfare.

But can you imagine the Pope giving such a speech to a bunch of republicans here in America? He'd get run out of Dodge...

Another Religious Leader Slam Dunks Bush!
Rob Kall: Dalai Lama: Bush Has Lack of Understanding of Reality

Of course, I have great respect for, in fact, I love President Bush, because he is very frank, very straightforward. His intentions are good, but some of his policy in spite of his sincere motivation and right goal, and some of his method becomes unrealistic because of lack of understanding about reality.
Seems like religious leaders are attacking Bush from all angles.

*** You're getting to be the class clown of the forum. Most violence and or a need to be materialistic in America is a direct result of the moral decay levied upon us by Hollywood liberals, the liberal ACLU, liberal judges legislating from the bench, the passage of Roe v Wade, liberal growth of the welfare system, etc., etc.

That's like he was talking directly to Bush, a person whose two favorite occupations are systemic corruption and unprovoked warfare.

*** No, he (GOD) was talking directly to you and to your ilk. Bush is a deeply religious man, whereas you once called me a Jesus freak--indicating your dislike for anything to do with Christianity. Stop being a hypocrite.

*** Yeah, if the Pope were to give a speech in America, you can bet your bottom dollar the majority of those in attendance would be your Evangelical red-stated Republican Christians, partly because its those same Republicans that believe in the sanctity of life (pro life), and no they won't run him out of dodge, they would embrace him along with his pro Christian/Conservative message. Nice try though with your hate-Bush message.

I see NO evidence that the Catholics are aligned in anyway with the Republican Christians that are evangelical, fundamentalist, PROTESTANT Christians. As a matter of fact, the highest concentration of Catholic voters usually vote Democrat. A good example of this is the Catholic support for JFK when he ran for office, for Bobby Kennedy and for Ted Kennedy.

The Pope stays out of national politics and so does the Dalai Lama. What the Dalai Lama is saying comes from his perspective as a Buddhist monk and very basic Buddhist concepts such as compassion. He has in fact said the WORLD needs to adopt more compassion.

It is a real stretch to try to line up both religious leaders as anti Bush.

Let me guess, you voted for Bush twice...you're one of those people, the 28%, who thinks Bush has done a good job. But just out of curiosity, which Hollywood movie gave birth to the preemptive invasion of Iraq? And explain to us how the ACLU promotes greed and materiality...

First I never called you a Jesus freak, so please run off to your doctor and tell him your anti-psychotic medication need strengthening. Second, the Pope ain't God. Third the Pope was addressing the republicans and all their corruption and violence.

Which is why in America he didn't dare give a speech that was anti-violence and materialism.

BS...do the body count and you'll see that republicans don't believe in the sanctity of life. Why else would the Pope begiving a speech that chastises the republicans for their violence?

Yes, in fact they would probably call on Rove to smear him as well...

Hahahahahahaha....sell him stock in Enron or a bundle of subprime notes...

National Politics & Policy | House Democrats Respond to Pope's Comments About Politicians Who Support Abortion Rights - Kaisernetwork.org

Eighteen House Democrats, led by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), on Monday in a statement responded to comments made by Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday about potential excommunication of Roman Catholic Mexico City legislators who voted for a law that allows pregnant women to obtain a legal abortion during the first three months' gestation, The Hill reports (Kaplan, The Hill, 5/15). The pope during a news conference on Wednesday on a flight from Rome to Sao Paulo, Brazil, when asked whether he agreed with excommunication for the lawmakers replied, "Yes, this excommunication is not something arbitrary."
That would be an interesting debate as far as the Pope goes.

Well let's see if that fits the language which was originally "and some of his method becomes unrealistic because of lack of understanding about reality."

...and some of his method becomes unCOMPASSIONED because of lack of understanding about COMPASSION.

Nope, that doesn't work for me. I think I'll stick with what the Dalai Lama really said....

So your argument is that what Bush has done, gutting the country, destroying Iraq, enriching his friends, and unleashing a tsunami of corruption, would not be addressed by religious leaders.

If you add up the name 'George Bush' in Hebrew letters it comes out: 666

Many people have argued both that Bush is evil or instead he's stupid. I'd say it was a coin flip.

But one thing is undeniable, Bush favors materiality and violence.

Jesus Christ is Bush's "favorite political philosopher" and Doctor Suess his favorite intellect.

The Raw Story | The Church of Bush

Bush conflates religion and politics not because he wants the religious to see him as one of them. He does so because he knows that if they treat politics as a form of religion, he becomes their God.

No wonder the Dalai Lama and the Pope are pissed at Bush...
