The Pope stays out of national politics and so does the Dalai Lama. What the Dalai Lama is saying comes from his perspective as a Buddhist monk and very basic Buddhist concepts such as compassion. He has in fact said the WORLD needs to adopt more compassion.

It is a real stretch to try to line up both religious leaders as anti Bush.
Truth is, Michael, the fundamentalist flying monkeys of the Republican Party actively HATE Catholics and have for some while.

Default Pope slams Affrayer

[quote=Affrayer;136761]

BS...do the body count and you'll see that republicans don't believe in the sanctity of life. Why else would the Pope begiving a speech that chastises the republicans for their violence?

**** Throughout your idiotic rant here you repeat the mantra that the Pope is chastising both Bush and the Republicans. Could you do me and anyone else that is reading this trash...a favor by pinpointing the exact line where the Pope unleashed this diatribe against both. Talk about not taking your medicines..whew! And as far as the Dolly Limpa goes, only the Hollowood actor Richard Gere gets pleasure out of bowing down to that guy's tattered robe. Gotta hand it to you Affro, you do come up with some knee slappers.

Sure.
SYDNEY, Australia — In his final address to hundreds of thousands of young Catholics gathered in Australia, Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday sharply criticized the violence and materialism of the modern age.
Do you need that in a larger font?

Please try and tell the board that republicans aren't neck deep in violence and materiality...it would establish your bonafides for all time.

Seriously?

Are you not on a computer accessing the internet? Materialism? And you are trying to claim this is a partisan problem?

You should probably set your font to red Affrayer. It really helps you know. Jack that font up to around 20 too. That will defiantly get the point across.

Do you live in your parents basement? Are you trying to claim that the republicans don't worship materialism? They are the ones who invented tinkle down economics.

In fact didn't Reagan hail the explosive growth of the S&Ls as proof his economic policy worked?

Didn't Bush hail the explosive growth in the subprime market as proof his economic polices worked?

The republicans don't care that those were criminal enterprises, all they cared about where the profits...
Republican Morality - Show Me the Money

A pundit once described Velveeta cheese spread as, "the triumph of technology over taste." The same wit might depict America's ruling Republican elite as, "the triumph of greed over morality." Early in the morning of November 18th, the Republican majority in the House passed a budget reconciliation bill that graphically illustrates the extent of their depravity.

The legislation contains budget cuts of $50 billion. Reductions that drastically impact programs for America's neediest citizens, particularly Medicaid and food stamps. A companion act features $70 billion in tax cuts for America's wealthy. Before the strictly party-line vote on the reconciliation bill, the National Council of Churches pled with every member of Congress. "The role of the government is to protect its people and work for the common good. This is not the time for a budget reconciliation process. To do so is not only unjust, it's a sin. It violates all the fundamental Christian principles of loving thy neighbor, caring for the poor and showing mercyŠ How is it that we show mercy for oil millionaires and not hurricane survivors?" (NCC Challenges Budget Cut Plans)
Now isn't that perfect republicanism, after making a massive tax cut for the wealthy they then cut 50 billion in spending on the poor...money the republicans call "wasted." As if money spent to feed a baby who belongs to a poor family is wasted....

Umm again, the problem of materialism is not a damn partisan issue. Last time I checked everyone here owned a computer and used the internet.

But that is fine Affrayer I realize that every single problem facing this planet is all because of the GOP. So keep up the good fight buddy!
