That depends on how you view the military. They're doing a job and they're getting paid for doing it. As for this notion that they're serving their country, I don't see how one can say that they're serving their country when they're involved in unconstitutional military action based on a foreign policy that would have been utterly abhorrent to the founding fathers.

Well, you know, veterans benefits are Congress' responsibility. So, it seems they're the ones who are discarding the spent cannon fodder.

Because they're using such things as a ruse to attack the Bush Administration. If liberals were really concerned then they would go after their cronies in Congress who let this happen.

The thing is, joining the armed services is not a normal job. It is not even being a cop. Chances are that when you get "the call" it is not going to be to some kids backyard to get a kitten out of a tree.

Yes the conflict in Iraq is really messed up. But what happens when we have to enter into a legitimate fight and we have just been chewing folks up and spitting them out. Year after year, fight after fight? How many people are going to want to join up? Or should we just fire up the draft again? You know join the "company" and all that jazz?

In a civil manner? You mean by sending insulting pm's to staff members? That civil manner? Or the part where you broad brush millions of people based on a bias setup of a few?

If you are referring to the pm I sent Michael, it was well deserved and you know it.

Instead of debating me, he lied about me, banned me, then locked the thread so when I came back, I couldn't post the fact he lied and refused to retract his false statement.

When bs like that is taking place by a moderator of this forum, you can bet the farm I won't ignore it.

If you all care to stop your selective censorship, I would be glad to go back to debating.

I don't need to spend time at the VA, I read many of the medical records in the course of doing my job.

Again, while they may not be responsible for whatever "trauma" occurred, they are responsible for how they choose to deal with it. It isn't the traumatic event (in this case, specific incidents during the Iraq War) that caused this guy's problems, it was his own choices on how to deal with the horror of those incidents that caused them.
