To know how Bush failed you have to start with the Agreed Framework of 1994 and how his administration broke that agreement. After seven years of huffing and puffing, they are bake where they started only North Korea now has more nuclear weapons then before.

The thing about Bush's abstinence program is that it doesn't teach birth control. So not only is there a greater likelihood the children will have sex but that there will also be a greater likelihood a pregnancy will result.

That's one thing wrong.

I see, so if we forced the violence out of Iraq and into Afghanistan, you'd think that was a victory. However, now that the Taliban has reorganized and reinserted itself into Afghanistan, it is a threat to Iraq. So nothing has been gained.

So that's another thing you got wrong.

You like getting things wrong? Oh well let's continue...
We are talking about Afghanistan, you said that that surge did not work in Afghanistan. All I said is that the surge was not implemented in Afghanistan.

And there where very few insurgents that came from Iraq. They have been camping out in Pakistan for the most part.

Not really. We are talking about things that Bush did that failed. And yes, I count the mess that is blooming in Afghanistan as a failure of the surge if one looks at the collateral damaged caused by the implementation of the surge. Certainly you must agree, that IF the myopic focus on Iraq contributed to the chaos in Afghanistan then it was a flawed policy. What good does taming one area do when the price that is paid is losing control in another area?

And I'm saying that because of the surge being implemented in Iraq, we lost control in Afghanistan.

The dynamics here are complex. For example part of the problem might be a shift in interest by Iran in that as we hampered their sponsored activities in Iraq they shifted their interests to Afghanistan. Another is that Bush was so desperate to make the surge work in Iraq he ignored warning signs in Afghanistan. Another is the surge may have caused a shift in resources away from Iraq and to Afghanistan. Whatever the case, as we focused on Iraq, Afghanistan has become a problem. The question you might ponder is once we shift our attention to Afghanistan, will Iraq once again become a problem.

Before you say no, consider the political dynamics in Iraq. As the Shi'ite dominated government begins to strongly establish itself, the Sunni will once again feel the "squeeze" for after all, the Shi'ite would love nothing better than to seek revenge on the Sunni for the decades of domination by the Baath party. AND since most of the reduction in violence in Iraq was due to American forces making peace with the Sunni, supplying them and allowing them to reestablish their military presence, won't there be an explosion of violence? I'd say it is unavoidable.

So as we turn our attention to Afghanistan, surge there, it will only be a matter of time before Iraq is once again a hot bed of violence. Back and forth, back and forth...a failed policy.

Democracy Now! | Bailout for Mortgage Giants, IndyMac Bank Collapse, Dollar Hits New Low, Inflation at 26-Year High, Dow Falls Below 11K...A Look at the Financial Crisis

It has been a tough seven days for the U.S. economy. On Friday, the FDIC seized control of the failed California-based IndyMac Bank. It was second largest bank failure in U.S. history. Analysts project another 150 banks could collapse. On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson announced extraordinary moves to bail out the mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. On Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped below 11,000 for the first time since 2006 and the dollar hit a record low against the Euro. And Wednesday it was announced that inflation is now rising at its fastest pace in 26 years. We take an in-depth look an the economic crisis.
So what does the king of failure say?
President Bush Makes Economy & War Predictions Based on Nothing - ToTheCenter

Despite providing no evidence or potential indication that would justify his prediction, Bush responded to questions about whether or not the economy would turn around by mentioning that he is optimistic that it will and that he believes the economy is currently growing.
So not only is Bush a world class failure but he's stark raving insane....

The fact is that Bush, a man who has failed at everything in his life except lying his way to public office, is now lecturing the country on how we should run our lives literally defines what brain farts are but doesn't seem to phase the rest of the world.

I think this is the biggest clusterf*** thread. Affrayer you managed to derail your own thread.

Abstinence is a Conservative policy and it has never worked that has been proven over and over again.

This is just more evidence of the same.

Damn religious nut jobs and there constant attempts to teach morality at school.

It isn't a 'conservative' policy. It is a 'neo-conservative xian fascist' policy. They are different.
