The term "mentally retarded," while not presently considered politically correct, is an accurate term. It refers, as you well know, to someone that is in the "retarded" range of intellectual functioning.

Not that I actually made any assessment of Bush. I was simply objecting to hurling insults at people in the retarded (deficient) range of intellectual functioning by including Bush among them.

I have a brother who is mentally retarded (Down Syndrome) so I bristle when someone uses the word "retard" in a perjorative way.

I was responding to Birdseye becuase I was thoughtless in my use of the pejorative.

I should never compare Bush to people with real mental issues.
