If you were to apply for a job and they asked you for a doctors report, would your perspective employer accept a doctors report that is 1-1/2years old?? I didn't think so.
Obamas 1 page letter from his doctor. ONLY ONE PAGE! I must note that Obama's last medical checkup was on January 15, 2007, which is about 1-1/2 years ago. It's a 21 year summary drafted on one page. Ridiculous. This report doesn't convince me that Obama is in excellent health, being that a lot can change since the last time he had a checkup. Why he doesn't provide a letter with his current medical information doesn't make sense. And yes, Obama has been a smoker for over 20 years and has not quit completely yet. With his family's history of cancer, quitting for good might be a great idea just about now
I am not convinced that Obama is in excellent health based on his Jan 2007 medical examination. Anyone with common sense can see that this letter is not a reflection of Obama's current health status. How about a doctors report that's up to date?

Text of letter from Obama's doctorTo Whom It May Concern:
I am David L. Scheiner, a board certified general internist licensed to practice in the State of Illinois. I am on staff at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Rush University Medical Center. I have been Senator Barack Obama's primary care physician since March 23, 1987. The following is a summary of his medical records for the past 21 years.
During that period of time, Senator Obama has been in excellent health. He has been seen regularly for medical checkups and various minor problems such as upper respiratory infections, skin rashes and minor injuries.
His family history is pertinent for his mother's death from ovarian cancer and grandfather who died of prostate cancer. His own history included intermittent cigarette smoking. He has quit this practice on several occasions and is currently using Nicorette gum with success.
Senator Obama's last medical checkup was on January 15, 2007; he had no complaints. He exercised regularly often jogging three miles. His diet was balanced with good intake of roughage and fluids. A complete review of systems was unremarkable. On physical examination, his blood pressure was 90/60 and pulse 60/minute. His build was lean and muscular with no excess body fat. His physical examination was completely normal.
Laboratory studies included triglycerides of 44(normal under 150), cholesterol 173 (normal under 200), HDL 68 (normal over 40), and LDL 96 (normal under 130). Chem 24, urinalysis and CBC were normal, PSA was 0.6, very good. An EKG was normal.
In short, his examination showed him to be in excellent health. Senator Barack Obama is in overall good physical and mental health needed to maintain the resiliency required in the Office of President.
Sincerely,
David L. Scheiner, M.D.

Doctor: Obama in great health, but has family history of cancerBut he said the Democratic senator's last official checkup in January 2007 found: Obama exercised regularly, often jogging three miles, and had “no excess body fat.” Actual weight wasn't disclosed.
Excellent blood pressure, at 90 over 60. Optimal blood pressure is considered to be less than 120 over 80.
Very healthy cholesterol, with a total cholesterol of 173 (desirable is less than 200); the so-called bad or LDL kind 96 (less than 100 is optimal); and the so-called good or HDL kind at 68 (desirable is more than 60).
No signs of problems on standard blood tests or a heart EKG. “In short, his examination showed him to be in excellent health,” Scheiner wrote. “Sen. Barack Obama is in overall good physical and mental health needed to maintain the resiliency required in the Office of President.”
But hanging over that positive assessment: Obama is a smoker who has quit but relapsed several times. Obama, 46, announced in February that he was quitting again with the aid of Nicorette gum. His doctor said only that Obama is using Nicorette “with success.”
Smoking causes a list of dangerous effects, including heart disease, strokes and lung cancer – and it takes the body a long time to heal after someone quits for good. Government statistics show that 15 years after quitting, the risk of heart disease drops almost to that of a person who never smoked; 10 years later, the risk of lung cancer drops by as much as half.
It wasn't clear when Scheiner had last seen Obama to verify the Nicorette use.

Why doesn't Obama provide an up to date doctors report, rather than rely on his January 2007 medical information to try to convince his supporters that he is in "excellent health"? I just doesn't make sense.
Put politics aside for a moment and ask yourself this question: Does it make sense to you that Obama's current doctors letter is based on his January 2007 check up?
