I lifted these statistics from a John Hinderaker article at the Real Clear Politics website. They point out the progression of terrorist attacks against the US and US interests world wide over the last 20 years.
The point of the "war on terrorism" was to try and end radical Islamic terrorism to ensure a safer future for America. These statistics seem to show that so far, our strategy has worked. Of course, I expect those of you on the left to counter by pointing out that over 4000 soldiers have died in this war. What you fail to recognize, is that is precisely what our military is for... To protect us. They are comprised of volunteers, men and women that have chosen to put their lives on the line for the security of this country. They are not "innocent" victims, as were the 3000 people who died on September 11, 2001. Quote:
I'm not suggesting that we will never be attacked by terrorists again, but from what I can see, the war on terrorism has been successful thus far. Last edited by Grim17 : 05-28-2008 at 04:32 PM. |

You missed a few years there I assume that is because there were none. You make a point to show the years bush was in office attack free.
Also just wanted to give you a number of civilians killed in Iraq ( not covered under your Solders are supposed to die mentality) Quote:

This has nothing to do with president Bush. I didn't post this as some kind of political ad. I posted this to show that the war on terrorism has thus far worked in protecting America and it's interests. That was the point of this war in the first place... Remember?

I'm not discounting them. They volunteered and were subsequently sent to Iraq and Afghanistan to do a job. That job was to defeat Islamic terrorists and the rouge governments that supported them. They deserve our respect and should be honored for their sacrifice to this country, as the military men and women that came before them.

In all those years less Americans Died then have died under Bush.
In all those years not a 10th of the People died that have died becuase of the invasion of Iraq. Your numbers are skewed. |

No, your premise is skewed.

No your propganda is skewed.
hundreds of thousands have died in Iraq Over 4000 American soldiers have died. Over 50,000 have been wounded many vary badly. Should we as a nation be happy that the deaths have been exported to another piece of land. You attempts to paint America as safer is a freaking joke. We are more hated world wide then just about any time in our history. |

Please note that for the purposes of this thread "American Interests" are defined as "Whatever fits in the political agenda of the OP."

Correlation is not causation. There is no evidence to link the lack of terrorist attacks on our soil during the past 6-1/2 years (as if that were the only time in our history that such a thing has happened!) with the presence of our troops in Iraq.
Maybe, just maybe, this came about because of something else - maybe the diligence of the good people in the FBI, CIA and DHS. Ya think?
