Yes, I do think he still would have been President. The reason he is President was because the neo-conservatives that took over the Republican establishment wanted someone they could control. Look at the guy's life: he hasn't personally accomplished a whole hell of a lot.

You may very well not have control over your life circumstances but you definitely have control over what you do with those circumstances.

Nor does it mean that we should work to remove them.

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.
