Can I have your PF password? How about your e-mail address and password? Are you on myspace, facebook, beebo etc? I would like those user names and passwords as well. Also if I could please get a 8x10 picture of you that would be great. One final thing, your phone number and voice mail password.

You do not have any thing to hide right?

Sure, password is fruitnut email is the_lonely_exile@hotmail.com. I'm not on myspace, facebook, beebo, i find them annoying and for petulant little children who don't know how to enjoy life. Don't have voice mail or a home phone because, well 'm not at home enough to bother paying for the line rental, etc. As for the picture, i'll be sure to take one and send it right over.

You are right I have nothing to hide but I object to having my information bandied about without my consent. That mentality, "I have nothing to hide so why not share it" is why we have things like the Patriot Act and why FISA is being expanded to include American citizens.

It's not that i have nothing to hide, so why not share it but i know that if i am ever surveillanced, nothing will happen to me because i have nothing to hide, so why not let the government surveille those who do?

Because it is a waste of resources to watch people that do not need to be watched. Do you realize that the Feds want to install vacuums on the backbones of every major ISP? They want to run deep packet analyzers on every thing going over the wire. Yeah that is a great way to catch those pesky terrorists. I have a higher chance of being rapped tomorrow than being assaulted by a terrorist while on US soil.

The government does not know who needs to be watched and who doesn't. So they have to go through and find those that they need to find. The most effiecent way for this is for all of the innocent to step forward and be open so that the government can quickly find out that there is no need watching you.

My feelings aside, but when I was young we left doors open 24/7 and were never robbed. People came and went. If your mom left her purse on the counter you got a call later to come pick it up. Or the clerk would have it dropped off after work.
But these things have changed, haven't they.
And so will so many other things change. And like the UK American is going to go further with all types of technology that will become part of everyday life in how you buy, sell anywhere.
If you go in a bank anywhere in America your filmed. If you use any ATM your filmed. Use an Airline and your filmed at the ticket counter.
many large stores and gaming sites use them. And in many cases they have helped the police solve crimes quickly.
I guess the old saying applies here, "You can't fight city hall"
And right now behind me CNN has a picture of one man who started one of the many wild fires in Florida. Which they received from the police. So what works will be used more and more in every location that can afford it.
Take a walk in many of the different state forest and you might be on cameras set to follow wildlife. It is a fact in todays world. Our feelings on it matter not! Heck evey 90 minutes several spy satellites fly over head and can see a grapefruit on the ground. So down ever look toward the sky.
Sorry Drakej but the situation in the govt. thinking is that it is needed.

What I am wary of is information gained by this technology will be given to feds or others, or even sold. What if you were caught underage trying to buy booze and in 2020 you apply for a job and the prospective employer can pull this up on his computer. And you are not hired, even if you were refused the liquor?

I must be getting old. Nobody asks to see my Drivers License anymore.

That would be an issue because a private company had recieved your private information. But that is also going do a slipper slope of speculating what will happen in the future with this technology.
