Girl Skips School - Father Gets Detention
by RS Davis The Freedom Files ![]() Hello Freedomphiles! What makes a bad parent? Is there some sort of yardstick one can buy that will guage it? Is it just abuse, or can other things play a factor? Being too lenient? Being too harsh? Not taking them to dance class? Putting them in your lap and letting them steer the car? Duct taping them to the wall and going to dinner? And at what point does the state have a responsibility to step in? Physical abuse, surely. What if the parent isn't preparing the child for life in the adult world? What if they're already an adult and living somewhere else entirely?
Interesting. Does this mean we can sue Roberta McCain because her son is such a douche? Full story here. Thanks to Nick Gillespie for the tip. |

This is the direction in which American society is going. First it's deciding that parents should pay for part of their adult-age "children" to go to college, then it's expanding the definition of "child" for purposes of things like child support or that damned SCHIP program to the early-mid 20s. Expanding parental liability (but not authority) to these legal adults is really no surprise.

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. "Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves." |

The girl is 18 and the father is no longer responsible for her. Obviously he is appealing this and I imagine it will be overturned. Then he needs to get his lawyer to file a law suit against the judge.
