Obama and Clinton are still to busy trying to fight each other to notice any thing McCain is doing.

Before reading this article I already knew that I didn't like McCain. But when I saw the title of this thread, I thought it might refer to the Constitution, which I consider the most important piece of paper in America.

But I'll agree that McCain's tax plan stinks, not because it cuts back on so-called "entitlements" but because it continues funding the perpetual military-industrial complex/war machine.

Well, I think the AMT needs adjusting, since it is now hitting some middle income taxpayers.

I don't friggin buy the POW ploy...he is the biggest hypocrite in America.
I don't believe he is a war hero. I don't believe he supports the troops.
He friggin voted against improvements in the benefits for vets...he, of all people should have lost his friggin mind when he found out about Walter Reed, and the deplorable conditions there. Who else had more right to "go off", if we're to buy the "war hero" ploy? Lies. Lies and chatter. He needs to find the nearest rock, and hide. Once again they "swift-boated" Kerry, and let this moron "pass".

They claim government doesn't work so they have set out to destroy it. It's a self fullfilling prophesy the Republicans have.

The Democrats on the other hand, want to fix it and make it work, better.

Ya I thought it was going to be about the constitution as well, I also consider it to be the most important piece of paper in America. I agree with the rest of your analysis as well.

I like McCain's tax plan, I just don't think it goes far enough. He need to eliminate ALL social spending, abolish the federal income tax, and cut the military budget by at least 25%. Entitlements are a travesty of justice and don't work, they need to be done away with.

Bush unveiled his budget proposal for fiscal 2009. It is the largest in US history at $3.1 trillion. A very substantial part of this goes to the Department of Defense and the Pentagon. I do not see much difference in what McCain is saying, that he wants to stengthen the military. That was a loud and clear message to the military industrial complex billionaires that bankrolled Bush into office twice that McCain wants to be his replacement and get bankrolled into office.

Of that 3.1 trillion, what percentage is taken up by social spending? History shows us that upwards of 50-60% is spent on social welfare programs, so let's not go griping about military spending until we address the biggest cash cow in Washington.
