The West is run by a motley crew of gaga old boys / financial aristocracy. They have niether the brains or the courage to let go of the devils tale that is 'empire' ( of whatever kind ) like Russia did.

until those last three words, I agreed with everything you said. Unfortunately, ALL that can be said about Russia as well and it seems that they are beginning to embrace empire anew.

but back to the point, sadly, Paul has plenty of supporters but since many of them are ideological whack-jobs, he looses credibility due to guilt by association regardless of how right-on much of what he says is.

besides, those in power will never give it up willingly, so ignoring the 'canary' is not only in their own best interest, it's standard operating procedure.

Aren't we repeatedly told that there is no "empire"?

Fortunately, very few pay any serious attention to Paul. And calling him a "hero" is a stretch. The guy has sat in Congress for over 20 years and accomplished nothing. He's no hero.

Thats a great point...while so much of what he says is great he will never get anything done because he is so radical and outrageous that he scares the crap out of everyone. A guy I work with is a huge Ron Paul fan and we talk about it all the time and I usually agree with him throughout the entire conversation and then it ends like this, "yeah but he won't ever get any of that done so it doesn't really matter what good ideas he has...."

You can't walk up to a podium and say everything sucks we have to eliminate every single government bureaucracy etc. etc.....if you want to change things you have to pick an issue and approach it from a reasonable expectation. Change takes time and moderation.

It's also helpful if you explain in detail how you will effectively and efficiently implement your propsed changes instead of simply stating "we'll follow the constitution." Paul never really explained himself sufficiently.

Telling the public "trust me" just doesn't cut it.
