Well, you have to explain not just your desire to change but how precisely you're going to effectively implement that change. Paul never really did that. That factor coupled with some of the unusual changes which Paul proposed, again without sufficient explanation, likely cost him widespread serious consideration.
I'll grant you that Paul has polished a chair in Congress for 20+ years but he's done virtually nothing during his tenure. I don't assign credibility and experience to someone who has done little more than occupy a chair and take home a six figure salary while spouting flowery, pie in the sky, unsubstantiated rhetoric. |

There is no need to sugar coat anything but the fact remains that radical statements don't effect change and Bourne is right that he rarely talks about how all these things can be done but rather that they should be done.

The only good thing about Paul is his antiwar stance and that's the only reason he ever had any popularity to speak of. His libertarian ramblings are of course totally absurd and what Paul thinks is the problem with the US is ther furthest from the problem. How dare he mention the welfare state when social responsiblility of the government was the first thing sold down the drain by the Bush admin? Always blame the welfare state when the greed of the rich and powerful destroy the country. And always insist that the supplyside principals need to be applied more vigourously and eventually it will all work out.
And Paul's a guy who is supposed to oppose the Iraq war and he can't even manage to remember that Baghdad is the capital of Iraq where the embassy has been built! Just another nitwit American who thinks that straying from their constitution is the root of all their problems. All the while acknowledging that the right has nearly destroyed his country! Go figure! |

Bourne gets it right for a change. For the wrong reasons perhaps but nevertheless.
Libertarians always come up short when you hold their feet to the fire and that's evident by looking at how they have failed miserable on my libertarian thread. Any close analysis of their harping on about taxes very quickly reveals that they have found a line of crap which works with people who hate to pay taxes. Most people do hate to pay taxes and so they will jump into the fold with Paul and company without even bothering to question it logically. It just feels goof for them and so they do it. I believe it's the duty of everyone of different political persuasion, be it left or right, to inform them of their foolishness and break their bubble. That way they will come back to earth and start dealing with reality as the rest of us must do. |

Paul doesn't seem to understand that there is more than one interpretation of the Constitution.

Governor- What is it about this crazy American wacko politician that you like. I watched the video and he doesn't answer the questions at all, he just continues to feed the people his 'feel good' pap. IMO, and as with all libertarians, the man has no substance. He sings a tune that feels good to Americans now that their country is going to hell in a handbasket and that's why he has a bit of a following. Take away the fact that he's against their evil and unnecessary war and he would have only a few hardline greedy conservatives left.
What is the attraction for you besides his antiwar stance? I think that if the truth was known none of them could end the Iraq war anyway because the US economy depends on eventuall bringing it to fruition. The US has now become a have-not country in the energy field and it can't survive on it's own by peaceful means. Paul would be totally powerless to change that one bit! |

Really my friend, I don't want to sound harsh but your constitution is not going to ever cause your country to come back to acting like a good global citizen which wants to cooperate with the rest of the world. And neeither will Ron Paul for that matter. Totally different and new attitudes are the only answer. I've mentioned several times before, begin by reading Hutton's, A Declaration of Interdependence, and some of you Americans may start to get a clue on what is wrong. Does nobody care anymore? |
