I care as much about McCain's age as I do about Hilary's sex or Obama's skin colour, as long as he is physically and mentally fit to do the job that's fine.

The leader of the liberal democrats (the third party in Britain) looked quite old, though he wasn't as old as people made out, and despite being one of the best politicians in the house he was effectively hounded out because of his age, heck he wasn't a drunk, didn't have a thing for rent boys and never even got to lose an election before he was kicked out. It was a real shame.

I've noticed that, but also wondered, how much of what I see is normal aging (in Bush's case, that's 8 years) and how much is due to the stresses of office?

My only concern if a president dies in office is, who is VP? Is he/she someone who has some common sense and isn't some flaming extremist?

Presuming he is too old to perform the functions of one of the most stressful jobs in the world is not at all unrealistic. If he were elected he would be the oldest president this country has ever sworn in. He claims to be knowledgeable on the affairs of Iraq and on 3 occasions in the past two weeks shown he doesn't know the difference between a shiite and a sunni. He has also had three bouts with cancer.

Don't care what he paid the doctor to say he was physically and mentally fit he does not look or act as though he could handle the job.

Isn't it interesting that so many of these so called progressive liberals are most worried by McCain's age. These same liberals that preach about equality and tolerance are using a stereotype to demean an opponent. Its sad really.

I don't think its prejudice.

Some jobs you can't do unless you can lift at least 50 pounds over your head.

The presidency is a very high stress job and the president should be strong enough to do it.

I happen to think McCain is a little to old to be able to handle the stress.

Oh, puh-leeze! You have the nerve to get all indignant after all the attempts to stereotype Obama and Clinton?

I'll take a senior citizen who is truly concerned about safeguarding this country against terrrorism than Barack Hussein Obama ,who partied with PLO operative Rashid Khalidi ,in Chicago and were good friends

Frank, people may think you are harsh, but one must admit that your facts are right on.

Age should not matter for the Presidency (except for the are you older than 35 in the Constitution). If his age makes a difference than there would be other effects, so don't vote for McCain for that reason. I know a 100 year old who would be fine as president. He still has energy in him and is a good person, but why should age matter? I don't like McCain because he and I don't see eye to eye, his age is the least of my concerns (unless his VP is worse than him, cause he may be President).
