What has changed in current events to justify his backpeddling on his promise to get the troops out when he told us he would?

Try to be specific, rather than diversionary.

As far as Obama goes, such a complete turn around is to be expected. Just like Bush, he's a uniter not a divider...all talk and no walk.

Hey, what can I say. This country was dumb enough to put Bush in the White House so why should we be surprised if they put either Obama or "Songbird" McCain there...

Can you explain why Obama's people are suggesting to chang the promise mid-game?

Would you not agree that there is a BIG difference between the troops being out within 16 months (as per his promise) and 60,000 troops to stay till 2010?

What? After talking to military brass, he had to amend his promise. He also said "safe withdrawal", didn't he. He is more 'plugged in, now, than he was....practical applications have to be considered. That's leadership.

Just what we need. Someone like Obama who can't make up his mind, flip flops for political gain and needs on the job training in foreign affairs and the military.

That's why I'm voting for an experienced leader in foreign affairs and the military, McCain. This country doesn't need an amateur like Obama.

Obama talks about bringing home one brigade a month. If there are more troops in Iraq, it will take longer than if there are less. He will begin a phased withdrawal. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Quote:
RUSSERT: "Will you pledge that by January 2013, the end of your first term, more than five years from now, there will be no U.S. troops in Iraq?"

OBAMA: "I think it's hard to project four years from now, and I think it would be irresponsible. We don't know what contingency will be out there.

What I can promise is that if there are still troops in Iraq when I take office -- which it appears there may be, unless we can get some of our Republican colleagues to change their mind and cut off funding without a timetable -- if there's no timetable -- then I will drastically reduce our presence there to the mission of protecting our embassy, protecting our civilians, and making sure that we're carrying out counterterrorism activities there. I believe that we should have all our troops out by 2013, but I don't want to make promises, not knowing what the situation's going to be three or four years out."
-- From 9/26 DNC Debate at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.

It's not flip flopping. It's responsible and thoughtful and careful.

McCain isn't an experienced leader in foreign affairs. He doesn't know the difference between Sunni and Shia and Al Qaeda.

Yea it was more about what they could take back on the campaign trail but Listen to Michael Weir's take on the issue. And while he speaks this one trooper turns on the as he moves and on his right shoulder is a Herd patch. He already has a CIB.

All three presidential contenders were on Capitol Hill Tuesday as Gen. David Petraeus discussed the progress in Iraq.
