Default Obama on the Economy

I'm voting for the candidate that promises to pay down the national debt. It's the only way IMHO to bring back the economy. Bush's deficit spending is ruining us.
Quote:
"Under George Bush, we've seen tax cut after tax cut for the wealthiest Americans who don't need them and didn't ask for them," he said. "This philosophy has been neither compassionate nor conservative, as we've run up hundreds of millions in deficits, and trillions of dollars in debt. And we've turned our back on working people without health care, and families who are losing their homes, and retirees who've lost their pensions. Instead of a level playing field for all Americans, we've let special interests tilt the scales in Washington."

The policies, he said, have led to income inequality, boom and bust cycles like the current housing-market crisis, job outsourcing and income stagnation. "And that is why there will be a very clear choice in this election," Obama said.

"We know that government cannot solve all of our problems, and we don't expect it to," he told the crowd. "We don't want our tax dollars wasted on programs that don't work or perks for special interests that don't work for us. We understand that we cannot stop every job from going overseas or build a wall around our economy, and we know that we shouldn't."

Ignoring his current rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (whom he mentioned just once in the course of an hour, in an entirely different context), Obama asserted, "If you believe that our economy's on the right path, then John McCain's the candidate for you."

Recalling the Arizona Republican's original opposition to the Bush tax cuts, Obama said, "I admired Senator McCain when he stood up and said that the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans offended his 'conscience.' But he got over that, and now he's all for them, and for continuing to do the same things that have taken us toward recession."

Obama said the broad goals of his "new direction" would include paying down the national debt, narrowing the income divide (in part by raising taxes on wealthy people), and minimizing the role of special interests in the legislative process. "We believe in the fundamental ideal that has always been at the heart of this nation's progress -- that I am my brother's keeper, that I am my sister's keeper, that we all have a stake in our common prosperity," he said.

Well, here's something Michelle Obama said which would have a profound effect on our economy.

Quote:
"The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."
Translation? From each according to their ability, to each according to their need.

Ever hear that one before?
The problem with following the old soviet moral premises is that they seem to produce a whoooooooole bunch of needy people. And its just downright immoral for any government to go about seizing peoples' property.

Anyway, the Obama "Campaign" is toast. Has been for a while. People that far to the Left do not get a ticket to the White House (we already had one Jimmy Carter).

After 8 years of right wing politics in the White House, it's time for a good swing to the left. There's no way a Republican can win after this.

Two things:
1) Obama may be on the left of American politics but generally speaking he is left of centre at best (i.e. that's the furthest left possible)
2) What does what Michelle says have to do with Obama's campaign, if he supports that then he can say it himself.

Points taken, all.

None of it matters. The Dems do not have anyone who can take the White House. They're going to need an entirely new kind of Leftist (perhaps one who isn't a communist... and a lawyer. ack!) if they ever want to see the highest office in the land again. Or, at least, one with better cammo. I have a feeling the traditional Democratic Party will have fallen by the time we see it happen, though.

I fail to see how Obama will pay down the national debt being that he has already advocated hundreds of billions of dollars in additional Federal spending.

Ending the Iraq war and the tax cuts for the top 2% will give him plenty of money to do things that are for the good of the country. We are bleeding 12 BILLION a month in Iraq.

Obama is an avowed Marxist. He hung out with Marxist groups when he was in college. It's all in his books.

Apparently, there a lot of people in America who now value greed over their freedom these days.

He is not going to end the war in Iraq. In fact one of his top advisers recommended just two days ago that we leave 60,000 to 80,000 soldiers in Iraq. Furthermore, raising taxes on just the top 2% is not going to fund his promises. Everyone will get hit with tax increases from the richest to poorest to fund his Socialist "Utopia" and we all have less freedom to show for it.

I really wish people would stop saying what others are going to do.

You havent a freaking clue what obama is going to do nor do you have a clue what mccain or hillary are going to do.

You think you know becuase you have decided your mind has some special talent for predicting the future but if that was really true you wouldnt be on a politcal forum right now you would be spending the billions you made with your talent.
