That sounds a lot like the original objection to the English Channel tunnel. Not the current one but the one which was proposed 100 years before that.

The United States isn't going to sell Alaska to Russia. First, it is a very wealthy state, second, the American people wouldn't allow it. It would be political suicide.

I think its a good idea.

I am not afraid of russia.

I think a tunnel that would connect asia and the new world is a very interesting idea.

Sounds pretty cool really.

But of course the fear mongers wont like it.
