Default Why the hell does congress care if baseball players use roids?

I just don't get it. MLB is a business. It’s just a big one. The Government should have no involvement in MLB regulation or testing for drugs. This is just a huge waste of money by moronic members of our government. I hope every one of these people loses reelection.

Athletes are role models for the children. If they perform way out of the normal range of performane for a normal human being, then the kids will expect themselves to do the same, as will their peers. That is not healthy for kids. Plus it is not an honest demonstration of skill. Why do you think that horses cannot be pumped with drug=s before races? Same thing applies.

It's like the modeling industry. Most models have perfect figures and very low weight, yet that is only a small percentage in the reality of women in society. The majority of women don't have a models looks, yet society pressures them into achieving the look. In comes anorexia and bulimia. If we cannot model ourselves after the reality of things, and not unreal expectations, then society is doomed to fail.

Plus the steroids make your wee wee smaller.

Athletes are entertainers, not role models. Even if you consider them to be, that is not license to intervene in the business practices of an organization.

Congress is not involved in any modeling agency or whatever; they are not involved in any other form of entertainment.

And steroids don't make you're wee wee smaller; they make your balls smaller

With what you are telling me, I guess the olympics are a big variety show, and the children that want to compete in the olympics ACTUALLY want to be entertainers. And to think that all these years the athletes were wanting to perform to their ultimate potential...to push the limits of the body, without artificial means. Interesting concept you bring to the table.

But congress IS involved in regulating the illegal use of drugs.

Congress is wasting time on this drivel while our constitutional rights are being trampled on. It's a travesty.

This is just a Publicity stunt by Congress to show that they are doing something, productive or not, this is still some work.

Well yeah that is actually how they were founded. Baron de Coubertin just had them as part of the World Fairs of 1900 and 1904.

Sure in making laws about them. Not determining if employees of a business are using them.

Rather than make on off topic comment about our rights being trampled on, why not contribute to the thread with some substantial commentary that relates to the steroid use? I know you have it in you, I would just like to see it.

What do you think Congress should be doing with their time, and why is this Democratic congress not doing it? And what rights are you referring to that are being trampled on?
