If congress is to attack this because of its affect on children, they should also go after the record companies pushing out hip-hop and rap that encourages kids to be stupid, sexist, homophobic, treat women like crap, spend all your money on bling and hydraulics, and carry firearms without a license in your baggy pants.

I'm not suggesting that they SHOULD be doing this UNLESS they continue on this "let's save sports" kick. If they're going to do a "let's save sports" thing, which they shouldn't, then they should also do "let's save music".

Real simple for two reasons one is that it isn't fair and these ball players are hero's to many children.
Number two is that it gives then direction and avoids the real important issues. Not that this issue isn't important. It is for the reason first mentioned.
Come on people let them debate the issue thats why they were elected. It is nice to see them get together on something and get results. Which I must say is refreshing for once. And I would like this to go onward to the other sports and the Military and the ones who need it most of all the Contractors who guard and fight for the money!
hell if politics was a muscle match we would be checking the politicians. And they seem to have one speed. One thing at a time. Then several days of parties. And back to work. looooool

Major League Baseball and the fans obviously turn the blind eye. They are not the enforcers of the law. State and Federal Government are the enforcers and the law is pretty clear:

Quote:
"Anabolic steroids are classified as controlled substances under U.S. federal law and the laws of many states. An alleged major East Coast distributor was recently arrested and a stockpile of anabolic pharmaceuticals was reportedly recovered pursuant to a search of his residence. Further police investigations are being conducted, and other athletes are being arrested. Since the non-medical possession or sale of anabolic steroids is illegal, strength athletes must not only consider the possible health risks but also the potential legal consequences of involvement. Many athletes who self-administer anabolics have no clue as to what might happen if they were to be caught by law enforcement. This article includes general information regarding what to do if a person is investigated or arrested in connection with steroids. Whether you are merely curious about anabolics or you are presently using and/or selling them, I invite you to carefully consider the material presented here. Perhaps you will choose to stay natural or become “drug-free” (always the safest bet, medically and legally!). If not, at least you will know the legal risks you are facing and what to do if you find yourself in the unfortunate and serious situation of an investigation or arrest. Obviously, the best time to read this material is before you are arrested.

Steroids and the LAW - Steroid Laws - Steroid . com
Quote:
Amid an atmosphere of searing political attention to the issue, both state and federal legislators publicly cried out for stiffer steroid laws. Citing a state survey of 500 high school students that found 11 percent of boys had used performance-enhancing substances, California State Senator Jackie Speier pushed a bill to make it is a misdemeanor in her state to sell or furnish to anyone under 18 years of age any dietary supplement containing androstanediol, androstanedione, androstenedione, norandrostenediol, norandrostenedione, or dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Although it overlooked many of the steroidal precursor products on the market, the bill, amending Section 110423.2 of Californias Health and Safety Code, was passed in September 2004 and signed by Gov. Schwarzenegger.

Steroid Law - Legal Muscle 2006 Supplement
Someone has to look into the continued abuse of this drug, for the sake of those who do not know any better. It's killing people. Congress HAS the right and responsibility to inquire about it.

How many other industries should congress go after instead of paying attention to actually voting the way they CLAIM they believe? (their recent approval of yet another warrentless wiretapping bill is a good example) Oh yeah, because it's easy.

Actually not true at all. When and employee fails a drug test criminal action IS NOT TAKEN by the state. You have made a completely false statement.

Guess my point is on deft ears. Good night all. I'm sure you will solve the entire issue by the morning. I trust in you to debate it till it is over in Congress.

Why aren't steroids fair? There are sports were it is almost impossible to be world class without them, it is nothing more than a training supplement at that level.

I could bring up a dozen other issues revolving around congress, but here we are discussing steroid use.

They already did, and the result of all that is a "Lyrics Advisory" on the label of these cd's. Thanks to the liberal agenda, anything goes nowadays, in the name of freedom.
