Default The Federal Elections

Texas 22 nd Congressional District covers a south-central portion of the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. It includes the cities of Rosenberg and La Marque as well as portions of Missouri City and Pearland, in Fort Bend, Harris, Galveston, and Brazoria counties. In the district, 52 percent of poll respondents identified themselves as Republicans, 32 percent as Democrats and 16 percent as independent.
The district is currently represented by the Democrat, Nick Lampson. The U.S. Constitution, which is the blueprint of the American system of government, defines three separate branches of government: the legislative, executive and the judicial. The Constitution works through an amazing system of checks and balances. The Constitution not only defines the structure and powers of the federal government but also contains general provisions regarding state government.
The Constitution elects its candidates for US Presidential Elections through a National Convention, which is held after every four years. For the 2008 US Presidential Elections the Constitution Party will decide upon its candidate at the National Convention, to be held in the month of April, 2008, in Kansas City.
Election Day in the United States is the day set by law for the selection of public officials by popular ballot. It occurs on the Tuesday following the first Monday of November (the Tuesday between November 2 and November 8, inclusively). Federal (or national) elections are always held every even numbered year. Many state and local government offices are also elected on this day. In Federal elections, all members of the House of Representatives are elected for two-year terms together with one-third of the Senate for six-year terms. The Texas 22 nd Congressional District of the House of Representatives is having its elections in the year 2008 for the 111th Congress. The candidates who have given their candidature include known names like the Republicans Dean Hrbacek, Brian Klock, and Democrat Nick Lampson among others.
