I really try to avoid violent contact, and only use it as a last resort, and this, since my friends and those people who were not doing anything to this kid, and he was just berating and berating, I felt I had to say something. So I did, then he turned on me, I told him to cut it out. He didn't. So I punched him. It was a series of bad decisions on his part and a series of me trying to solve it nonviolently. Most other times this has happened I've just left it, but since he's had so many chances, I feel that he had to wake up to the real world. You're right... Life's not fair.

First, I think you were totally wrong to punch him out.
Having said that, I certainly can understand the sense of satisfaction you had doing it. ....Just understand that you were wrong and have to pay a price for that sense of satisfaction...sometimes the price is worth it, and sometimes even the WRONG act does some good. Not very often, but sometimes.
But you were wrong. You should have waited until he took a swing at you or grabbed you or something.
Its really hard to comment on this...I WANT to find you justified....I really, really do....I WANT to give you a pat on the back and a cheer and applause...I just can't. Not for the punch. But for sticking up for your friends who are doing nothing wrong or people you don't want to see abused...yes, for that You get a thumbs up. Good thoughts, wrong actions.
BTW...what the hell is "hackysack"? I assume you can play this silently? LOL.
