Murderer maybe. Maniac most certainly not.
Even if he was a murderer, I refer you to my previous post: while Ernesto Guevara might have been a murderer, El Che is a symbol of liberation and equality, end point.

True, he is an iconic figure all over the world and he DID go astray when he advocated violence as a method for any revolution simply because he allowed the 'revolution' to abandon the moral high-ground and accept as valid the methods of the 'reacionaries' on the political right.
but the one thing I do admire about 'Che', regardless of all his many shortcomings, is that he had the courage of his convictions and put his life on the line to fight for what he believed to be right.
As one of the few people on this forum who has actually been to the regions where he struggled and seen something akin to what he was fighting for and against, I have seen exactly why he believed what he did and why he is still viewed as one of the greatest latinoamericanos in all of the region's history.
still though, some of the things he did and advocated are inexcusable and cannot be overlooked if we are to honestly examine his actions and his legacy.
