Rogue: Interesting idea. I have not seen a follow up study on this registration system. Who is filling those jobs if the illegal aliens leave? I still see a need for an effective guest worker program that require immigrants to pass a criminal record check and have an ID card.

I also have no problem with making legal immigration more accessible, but with requirements, such as learning English.
Well, passing these tough on illegals laws in 50 states, because they require mandatory checking of legal status with e-verify and take away the business licenses of repeat offender employers of illegals, will remove the jobs magnate that draws and keeps illegals here and will result in the mass SELF DEPORTATION of most, not all, of the illegals. All of the former employers of illegals will have to raise wages to try to attract LEGAL AMERICAN workers. These former employers of illegals won't be at a disadvantage though because all of their competition, the other former employers of illegals, will be in the same boat. At this point I could agree to some sort of guest worker program, if the case can be presented for the need for them and the amounts needed. These guest workers couldn't just walk off the job into the underground black market, like before, because it wouldn't really be there anymore and the former employers of illegals wouldn't hire them anyway anymore.

This country could go back to the rule of law and the national Democratic party wouldn't get to engineer a permanent majority by giving amnesty to a bunch of illegal alien future Democrats.
