Getting tough sounds great, but if everyone did it and we deported all of them back to Mexico the following would be the result:

(1) US taxpayers would be charged a huge bill for deporting them.

(2) Most would be back within the next month.

(3) If you are 100% get tough on your approach to this issue, that means no guest worker program. The prices on everything from wine to potatoes would substantially increase. Other service areas such as maids and gardeners would be reduced to severe personnel shortages.

What we really need is a comprehensive bill passed on illegal immigration. We need to break this down into two bills. The first would focus on border security only. That has a large majority support and would pass. A second bill would relate to a guest worker program, legal immigration, homeland security and other issues.
No, actually I have been called a racist. But that does not bother me because I know that I am not a racist. What bothers me is when over sensitive posters stand ready to twist something into a race issue. My term was in context with the topic, and not in a mean spirited or derogatory sentence.

We need to identify and deport illegal immigrants. Sounds like you are supporting the exploitation of illegals that are here working for substandard pay.
The idea that if we deported illegals that the price of certain goods would go up is not true. Young Americans would take some of those jobs. I did it when I was young. Also, I am in favor of worker visas. That would also solve the worker shortage.
Yes, we need to secure the boarders. We need to deport illegal immigrants. And we need to process them to come into America legally.
We need to prosecute businesses that hire known illegals as well. That will force many to return to Mexico and come in the right way.

If Americans do not agree with any of what I have said, then Americans need to change the current immigration laws. Change them, or enforce them.
