Unfortunately, they don't work.
Oklahoma and Arizona both have very small 'illegal' populations compared to other states like Texas and California.
If these two states were to do the same thing, along with Florida and New York, the other two states with the highest numbers of illegal residents, there would be an exodus, not to Mexico, like y'all would like to believe, but to the states with more liberal laws, or to the countries with more liberal laws(Canada?), and this ain't gonna fix the problem. Again, it's just going to shift it to another sphere.
Legislation isn't the way to 'solve' this problem. They only solution is multifaceted, multinational and developmental in nature.
Treating immigrants like criminals, whether they're here legally or not, is not the answer. And every state will not enact or enforce the law the same way, not matter how much we might like to believe they 'should'.
