I have no particular wish to do this, but had one or other of the major religions gone belly up, the world might be a more peaceful place today. The culture clash is so extreme, it now looks to be a long-term and bloody problem for all of us.
Muhammed, if I can't get Saladdin, for similar reasons. To prevent the difficulties the world is facing today, by allowing one religion to gain supremacy.
As to which religious text is more violent, Islam's produces actual violence. Christianity has mostly moved on from that culture. Islam's evolution is slower. Almost medieval in some respects. Miriya, are you seriously saying you'd prefer to live under Sharia law??
Regarding Margaret Thatcher, the bomb exploded at 4 a.m. and blew up her bed, which she wasn't using as she was still working. At 4 in the morning, can you believe it...presumably because she is a vampire.
Marxism...in other discussions it has become apparent that the McCarthy witchunt is alive and kicking in some US citizens even today. No offence, but the very mention of communism or even socialism seems to engender over-defensiveness and disparaging comments from US posters.
Europeans are not bothered too much by it, it's ok for people to hold different political beliefs even if they involve Marxism.
IMO it is worth considering whether your views have been created by your educational system and the shared culture you live in. There may be more to other political views than you have been allowed to discover and they may not really be that scary if you research them for yourself. For all the talk of freedoms, I don't know how much political freedom you allow each other...

Oh Viv , I've always agreed with you before.
Why destroy Islam rather than christianity or judaism. Personally it seems to me that they are equal in their violence, and in the benefits they can bring about. Islam does preach peace and I have many muslim friends who deplore violence. In some ways it seems to me that Christianity is worse; Islamic countries have had to live under invasion and threats since the crusades and have been given no chance to develop. Just as the U.S.S.R. was given no chance to develop due to American agressiveness. If we look at the Christians in western countries many are very reasonable but there are a large percentage of evangelical Christians and many others who think war against Iraq and Afghanistan is right. Unfortunately one of these is leading the "leader" of the "free" world. Whereas if we look at Muslims in the west the vast, vast majority are reasonable, intelligent citizens. There is large-scale Muslim political activity in inner-cities, especially where I live and presumably in places like Leicester and Birmingham. I'm sure you remember the "teddy bear teacher" in Sudan, well the Muslim Council of Britain publically condemned this. Did the anglican or catholic churches in Britain condemn the war in Iraq? Now I know these are different situations but I think my point still stands. Also please consider the effect of your words. What do you think it is that radicalises young muslims in the first place? I got quite worked up at you statement and I'm not a muslim, I don't even believe in God. Saying you wished that Christianity was the sole religion is very inflamatory.
