And going into effect on February 1st 2008 will be the layoffs of all clerks in the department responsible for administering it. By the end of the year, they will have a thousand cases backlogged and no convictions.
That's when they will conclude that they can't actually enforce the law and officially stop trying.
But if any voter accuses them of doing nothing, they can point to this tough piece of legislation (that won't be enforced).
Amazing how this game works eh?
Takes a lot of effort to build up that many illegal immigrants. 10-20 million people just don't sneak in overnight.
