Well, I'm not exactly surprised. One thing I'll say about Bush and this Administration is that they are certainly consistent. They've followed their philosophies and agendas to a T, and haven't allowed facts or reality or contrary information dissuade them.
This, just like the abortion debate, boils down to whether you value quality of life versus merely quantity of life.
To call other forms of contrception like IUDs and pills "abortion" is simply ludicrous. If an egg isn't fertilized in the first place.....ahh, I shouldn't need to explain this.
But, if we take the Bush premise to it's logical conclusion, then every woman that's menstruated her unfertilized egg is guilty of murder, not to mention every man who, daily, allows millions of sperm to die off unused. I know conservatism tends to be rather regressive, but to want to turn the clock back to pre-contraceptive times is extreme, unrealistic and arrogant.
Is this really what they are going after, here? Procreation for the sake of it? Or, is it something more sinister, wishing to disempower women to engage in sex for pleasure, out of spite? Damned women, how dare they?
