Algae tech is growing in leaps and bounds. The first greenhouse they set up was like a huge clear plastic tube that zig zagged back and forth over a distance equal to about half a football field. What they are using now looks like huge venetian blinds with each slat being a growing medium. These are vertical and as high as you want them. Since their use results in DAILY harvests of biofuel, this potentially can out produce anything grown in the fields. And the extra benefit is these greenhouses are attached to traditional power plants. They use the carbon dioxide which would otherwise count against the power plant as an emission and carbon "footprint" - the algae uses CO2 in the typical photosynthesis process and the "waste" product is oxygen. Since the power plants are under pressure to lower their emissions, this is a win-win proposition for them.

It is a regenerating and renewable source of energy unlike oil, which will invariably become more expensive in the future.
