Default Some problems with mandatory vaccinations

I'm staunchly opposed to mandatory vaccinations and here are some examples that show why people who are so gung ho about forced vaccinations should take a second look.

Young Soldier Dies Weeks After Receiving Mandatory Vaccinations

A 22-year-old soldier died of a mysterious illness after receiving several mandatory vaccinations, including anthrax and smallpox.

According to the girl’s father, doctors thought she had a cold or a minor reaction to inoculations, but then her condition worsened and she didn’t respond to treatment for pneumonia.

Two days before her death, she could not breathe unaided and had an extremely high fever, weakness, headaches and nausea.

Although an Army spokesperson said there was no indication that vaccines were involved in the girl’s death, her father was told that she might have had the immune disorder lupus, which could have been caused by the smallpox vaccination. The true cause of death will not be known until an autopsy is performed.

US Military Finds That Anthrax Shots May Cause Birth Defects

Citing a "possible," and as yet unproven, link between the anthrax vaccine and birth defects, experts at the US Department of Defense are advising that servicewomen not receive the shots during pregnancy.

Assistant Secretary of Defense Dr. William Winkenwerder on January 16 sent a memo to top officials of the US Army, Navy and Air Force, requesting that they "strengthen the screening of females of childbearing age with careful questioning or other positive efforts, potentially including pregnancy testing when appropriate, to prevent the administration of vaccine to pregnant women."

Preliminary data from a study by the Naval Health Research Center of women who have received the anthrax vaccine has "identified a possible relationship between maternal anthrax vaccination in the first trimester and higher odds of birth defects," according to a statement from the Defense Department.

This week's announcement adds to the controversy surrounding the military's use of the anthrax vaccine, which predates by several years this fall's recent spate of germ-tainted mail.

Many experts believe the vaccine to be both ineffective and potentially harmful to recipients, and even top US government health officials concede there is currently not enough data available to make a firm recommendation that those at risk of anthrax exposure receive the vaccine.

Vaccines Threaten Up to 44,000 U.S. Soldiers

A U.S. soldier in Iraq, Pfc. Leif Hamre, 22, may face dismissal for refusing the anthrax vaccine. According to his own statements, he’s already been given an Article 15 – a non-judicial military punishment – including being taken off missions, assigned 18-hour workdays, and reduction in his pay scale, in addition to being subjected to threats and intimidation.

Concerned about the questionable safety of the vaccine, he became even more concerned after he discovered the military wasn’t even handling the vaccine under the rules for storing it at the correct temperature.

In an open letter he states, “The tactics they have used to coerce me into taking the shot are unregulated, unscrupulous and downright un-American.”

But Hamre is not alone in his opposition to the vaccine. A recent report from the General Accounting Office (GAO) confirms that about one to two percent of immunized individuals may end up with severe adverse reactions, including disability, chronic disease and death. Even at that seemingly low risk, when calculated across the 2.2 million in the service, an estimated 44,000 enlisted could potentially end up in the morgue.

The vaccine BioThrax, manufactured by BioPort (now called Emergent Biosolutions) is the only FDA-licensed anthrax vaccine available in the U.S. However, even BioPort’s own insurance company, Evanston Insurance, has sued BioPort, alleging “material misrepresentations about incidents, conditions, circumstances, defects, or suspected defects in the vaccine.”

Says Leif Hamre, “… I am an American citizen too, with rights I thought we were fighting to protect. I have given two years of dedicated service to the Army, with a clean record and a willingness to sacrifice for my country and fellow soldiers… I just don’t think any of this seems right…”

Dr. Meryl Nass, a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, has a warning for all citizens in the U.S., stating that if there should be another anthrax attack, such as the powder-laced envelopes received at the U.S. Senate office in 2001, an order requiring mandatory inoculations of civilians is both legally and technically possible.

Vaccines Threaten Up to 44,000 U.S. Soldiers - Articles
Vaccines suppress the immune system, thereby making one vulnerable to other illnesses. There have been numerous cases where a perfectly healthy individual went downhill and even died shortly after receiving vaccinations. I personally know a woman who had a healthy baby - until the baby received her shots. Now that baby is a young woman who has suffered from seizures ever since she received her baby shots. Right after she graduated from high school she came down with cancer.

Look at the high cancer rates now and look at the cancer rates before mandatory vaccinations were instituted. Of course the poisoning of our food chain with toxic chemicals plays a role, but an immune system suppressed by vaccines may be a contributing factor.

Some people can come up with literature saying that vaccinations are perfectly safe while others will come up with literature that shows the exact opposite. This shows that this issue isn't strictly black and white and that there are some questions about the safety of vaccines. Therefore, this isn't an issue that should be mandated by the government. Each person should have the right to weigh the pros and cons and make the decision for him or herself.

After all, isn't that what true freedom is all about?
