Combine that with folks that either don't know what they are talking about, in light of scripture, or don't understand what they read.
Case in point, I lived 'briefly", with a "girlfriend"....a lesbian, who would alternate from screaming, ranting and raving lunatic of an evangelist to predator, "chasing skirts". She would , routinely, misquote scripture, in an effort to "belittle" others or distract from her own shortcomings....a clear case of "bible abuse", if I ever saw it.
