I find the whole concept of jingoistic validations of allegiance and oaths of fealty repugnant. I feel no need for daily self-congratulatory backslapping. The constant Pledges and Creeds and other insipid, chest-pounding pablum seems pathetically insecure...more of a pathological obsession that makes me wince with embarrassment.
