You can automatically discount all the nonsensical stuff about miraculous happenings, though. Historic authors of antiquity were known for making **** up from Herodotus on down.

They were written by Greek students of the Apostles. Prior to the Greeks, the culture of the time considered verbal history to be a normal standard.
